Port of Tracyton Waterfront Improvements:

 

The Port of Tracyton boat launch ramp is in a state of failure and long past its useful life.  The Port is considering options that may be available to renovate or replace this public infrastructure in a manner that will best serve district residents and the public.  The Port is not considering additional taxation for this project however, there are numerous grants that may be available to help fund much needed improvements.

 

The discussion around what improvements may look like is just beginning and the Port is interested in ideas and general thoughts from the district residents.  To that end, the regularly scheduled board meeting on April 13, 2023 at 6pm will begin with open public discussion related to potential waterfront improvements in the vicinity of the existing Tracyton boat launch.  The regular board meeting agenda will follow this open public discussion. 

 

Port district residents and property owners are encouraged to join the discussion in person at the Tracyton Public Library (351 NW Tracy Avenue).  The Port Commissioners will be considering potential improvement options at a conceptual level such as replacement of the existing boat launch ramp and/or alternative public shoreline access uses for this site.  The “brainstorming” discussion will remain conceptual in nature and no final decisions will be made during this meeting however, all ideas and considerations that will serve the final goal of enhanced public shoreline access are welcome and encouraged.

 The Port of Tracyton Regular In-Person Meetings are the second Thursday of the Month 6:00PM at the Tracyton Community Library - 351 NW Tracy Avenue.  The Agenda's for each month's meetings are in the Archived Documents at least 24 hours prior to the meeting.

2022 REDISTRICTING

The Port of Tracyton has published the Port’s draft redistricting plan on the Port’s website and welcomes public comments on the plan.  The Port’s three Commissioner district boundaries are required to be adjusted in response to the 2020 census so that each district will be as equal in population as possible, districts are compact, district boundaries follow existing recognized natural boundaries, and will preserve existing communities of related and mutual interest. The Port will hold a public meeting to consider public comments on the draft plan at its regular meeting on September 8, 2022.  Public written comments on the draft plan should be sent to porttracyton@gmail.com on or before September 7, 2022 (the day before the meeting). The regularly scheduled Port meeting will be held at the Tracyton Community Library, 351 Tracy Avenue, Tracyton, on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 6:00PM; whereat the Commissioners may decide to amend the draft plan and resubmit the amended draft plan for additional written public comment at least one week before adopting the plan. The Port intends to adopt a final redistricting plan at its regular meeting on October 13, 2022. 

The Port of Tracyton Regular In-Person Meetings will again resume starting with the March 10th, 2022 meeting at 6:00PM at the Tracyton Community Library - 351 NW Tracy Avenue.  

The Port of Tracyton public meeting for February will be held via ZOOM (Meeting ID# 842 1665 1068 Password: Tracyton) on February 10, 2022 @ 6:00PM. If you are new to ZOOM you may be asked to download the application.

 The Port of Tracyton regular in-person meetings will resume starting with the July 8th, 2021 meeting at 6:00PM at the Tracyton Community Library - 351 NW Tracy Avenue.  

Port of Tracyton public meetings will be held via ZOOM (Meeting ID# 755 6804 2954 Password: Tracyton) the second Thursday of each month at 6:00PM until further notice. If you are new to ZOOM you may be asked to download the application.  

MEETINGS

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Governor’s mandate the Port of Tracyton has been unable to hold in-person public meetings.  Once the County is safely in Phase III of the Safe Reopening, in-person meetings can resume as long as the social distancing guidelines are in place.  At this time, it has been decided to hold the August 13th Port meeting via ZOOM (Meeting ID# 755 6804 2954 Password: Tracyton) regardless of which Phase the County is in at that time. If you are new to ZOOM you may be asked to download the application.  

JUNE 2020 ONLINE MEETING

The June Port of Tracyton meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 11, 2020 @ 6:00PM. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Governor’s mandate the Port of Tracyton is still unable to hold in-person public meetings.  A ZOOM meeting (Meeting ID# 755 6804 2954 Password: Tracyton) has been created. Although the meeting is limited to forty minutes, the public is encouraged to attend.  If you are new to ZOOM you may be asked to download the application.

MAY 2020 MEETING CHANGE

It's not just an artistic bench that's been added at the Tracyton dock. It's the spirit of things to come.
As part of a bigger plan to bring folks back to Tracyton, residents and Tracyton Port Commissioners met Saturday at the Port of Tracyton to christen a new visitors viewing bench. The bench, which is really more a piece of art than somewhere to sit, marks a desire by the locals to put Tracyton back on the map.

Redistricting Required By Year End

All public ports are required to alter their district boundaries within the year after the Federal Census if the population is found disproportionate. The Port of Tracyton postponed plans for redistricting pending the outcome of Proposition 1 to enlarge the total area of the port. With the failure of Proposition 1 the Port of Tracyton commissioners will examine the current census data and decide where district boundaries will be altered. Those living within the Port of Tracyton are encouraged to be part of this process by attending the next meeting, rescheduled for November 16th. You can access the census data and the map prepared by the commission by selecting them from the right-hand column under Port Documents Archive.

Port of Tracyton Proposition 1 Fails

TRACYTON — The Port of Tracyton can't afford to upgrade and maintain facilities after a bid to expand its boundaries fell short.

The port asked some Bremerton residents if they wanted to join the district, but they voted 407-347 not to, even though its tax rate is the lowest of any port in Kitsap County. The cost is 4.2 cents per $1,000 of assessed value, or $8.44 a year on a $200,000 home. The annexation would have almost doubled the port's revenue.

After a few hours of patient key pounding the Port of Tracyton now has its very own website! Designed and populated by volunteers, the website in its current form costs exactly 10 dollars per year, because we mainly used resources freely available on the Internet. The 10 dollar cost is a yearly recurring fee to renew the domain name "portoftracyton.com".
